OWH goes for a Western Challenge. Yee-haw!

The challenge this week is to make western theme cards for one of OWH's contacts.  Well, it just so happens, I DO have some western type stamps, so I dug them out and made some cards to send to Sandy.  I do not have any herds of wild horses stampeding across the plain, or cowboy type stamps, but I think these will work.  I hope you enjoy them...I had fun making them.

The following two I made using a stamp set from CTMH called Southwest Pottery.  I do not believe they make it anymore.  I've had it over 10 years.  It was fun to get it out again.

CS - stash
Striped DP - My Mind's Eye - Wild Asparagus
Ink - SU Soft Suede
Sentiment - Hero Arts / OWH - Dude
Ribbon was in a multi-pack of ribbons I received for some entry on the OWH site.  (I'm sorry, Sandy, I don't remember what I won this for, but LOVE the ribbons.)
Brad - stash

The treatment of the stamps here just shows portions of them, but there are 4 and they really are very nice pots.
DP - Jet Set Sunny - Shimmerpaper - KI Memories
Ink - CTMH Autumn Terracotta
Raffia and brad - stash

Image and Sentiment - CTMH "Howdy" set
CS - CTMH and some more of this YELLOW paper Sandy gave us at one of the OWH card making sessions a couple of years ago.  Yeah, still trying to use it up.  :)
Ink - SU Soft Suede and Memento Tuxedo Black
Image colored with Copics
Spilled milk - Creme Pearl Pen

OK, OK, cowboys don't herd dairy cows, but I told my husband that she kicked over the milk pail because she wanted to roam the prairies with her western bovine cousins.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yee-haw.

Let your light shine...and the mid-week throw down.

This last weekend I went to my very favorite LSS in Beaverton, OR, The Peddler's Pack.  It's hard to go there and not come out with a bag of goodies!  Someone had posted a card with a circle with ribbon snippets fanning out from behind and it made me think of a sun, so I went there to specifically to find a "You are my sunshine" stamp.  Well, alas, they did not have one anywhere, but the owner  said they could custom make me one on the computer right then and there!  And I could have it the very next day.  Yow!  Unfortunately, I was not going to drive all the way back to Beaverton the next day (about 20 miles from my house), so she said she could pop it in the mail.  Monday was a holiday, so it took 2 extra days to get to me, but there it was, in the mail Wednesday!  AND The mid-week throw down was for light, or sunshine, or light bulbs and it was MEANT TO BE!  Can you say serendipity?  Enjoy my take on the theme.

CS - my stash
Sun stamp - Zap stamps (dollar bin at Michael's)
Ribbon - my stash
Dry embossing - Cuttle Bug
Gold heat embossed sentiment - CTMH embossing powder
Cloud effect - CTMH stencil
Sentiment - custom acrylic stamp by Peddler's Pack, Beaverton, OR

Thanks for stopping by.

Mid-week throw down...punny cards.

This week's challenge for OWH is punny cards.  And if you know me, you have to know I would want to be in on this one.  I'd say one fourth of my cards are word plays...and probably half of my stamps are funny.  I can't help myself.

Here is one I made recently that will be on the way to Sandy soon in a box from East Woods Presbyterian Church where I conspire with my Vancouver BFF stamping buddies, Esther and Ellen (the E Sisters), and others, to make cards to send to OWH.  They're not really sisters, but we are all sisters in our hearts.  (We call ourselves S.I.S.T.R.Rs - Sisters in Stamping That Really Rock.   OK, it's corny, I know.)

The fox stamp is from Inky Antics, and the sentiment is computer generated.
The ink is CTMH Autumn Terracotta, the DP is "Groovy" from KI Memories, and the CS is from my stash.

 I made this one yesterday:

The fan is from Viva Las Vegas Stamp that I bought at the store in Vegas!  It has thousands of stamps and you can spend a couple of hours in there just ogling the stamps.  They have a fantastic web page too.  Go check it out.  http://www.vivalasvegastamps.com

The  sentiment is B Line Designs that I purchased 2 weeks ago up in Tukwila, WA at Impress by South Center Mall.  We were all anticipating the Super Bowl Game on Feb. 2nd,  and of course, they had a large display of sporting stamps and papers.  I thought this one would be a perfect pairing with the fan stamp.  If you're in the area and haven't visited this store, you MUST go.  Drool.  Sandy Allnock taught a class on fancy folds that I took there.  She is teaching more classes each month, so do go check out their website too.  http://www.impresscardsandcrafts.com

The papers were in my stash and the orange was embossed with my Cuttle Bug.  This is the very last of that cute ribbon I had in a drawer.  I like to think those flowers are dandelions and you know that is in keeping with the theme of the mighty wind the fan is blowing too, right?

Thanks for stopping by.  :)
