Ground control to Major Tom...

A few weeks back on my last trip out to Peddler's Pack (Beaverton, OR), I picked up a really great new stamp:  "I love you to the moon and back."  I also grabbed some great patriotic papers.  One of them I used here,  navy with the white stars all over.  I started by cutting it into card front sizes and let my imagination run wild.  I made some for Any Hero cards with different sentiments too.

I also got some really great patriotic papers from one of our regular card makers at East Woods Presbyterian Church.  We've started bringing in papers that we're tired of, or have an extra supply of and trade.  Free paper is GOOD.

Anyway, THIS card just sort of evolved while I was at my desk.  I remembered I had a couple of sets of outer space type stamps, and thought that would go perfectly with the new stamp.  I really like how it turned out.  (My Mom always said to take pride in what you do.  Grin.)

I hope some little person gets this that remembers Mom or Dad reading this story to them when they were still home before they went off to serve in the military.  And then shows it to Mom or Dad when they come back from service and gives them a BIG hug and shows them the card again!

Adding to my own stash....a new birthday card.

5/22/2014

My own stash of birthday cards was becoming perilously low, so I whipped out a set of these in similar colors and papers.  It's fun to know that someone is getting a card in the mail instead of another Visa or Mastercard offer, don't you agree?

And I have SO many wonderful stamps, I need to use them.  I've probably said this before, but some of my stamps have never touched an ink pad yet!  Yeah, I went through a "stock piling" phase of buying stamps.  OK, like the blog says, I'm addicted to stamping.  (grin)

OWH, Memorial Day weekend and Any Hero cards...

5/19/2014

I thought this one would be perfect for someone to send home.  When Pete was in the Navy, yeah, I missed his voice...a lot.

Memorial Day
5/26/2014

Yesterday we had another get together at Emeritus Senior Living.  It was an extra chance to spread the love of our military with our friends there and make some cards for OWH on this Memorial Day Holiday.  We also wrote many Any Hero letters as well as put together some really nice cards.  Esther and Ellen seem to provide the lion's share of kits and it's always inspiring to see new designs and what they do with some of the papers we share.  Esther posts pics after each get together and it's been fun to see how our cards have grown over the 3 years we've been getting together.

Anyway, here are the card kits I took, and I'm happy to say, were all assembled and put into a box that Esther has mailed off to Sandy today.

This sentiment was one I CASE'd from another OWH card maker on the OWH FB page.  I computer generated it.  I thought it was perfect for Any Hero cards.

These went together very quickly and the nice design paper (DP) and card stock just made it yummy and easy for me to put together.  Or I've gotten a good dose of mojo from the OWH Blog Hop this weekend.  Even though I've only gone over and checked out a couple of cards, it makes me feel so energized to know how many all around are making cards for this wonderful project and giving of themselves to help our Heroes keep in touch with home.

AND I have to credit my stamping sisters Esther and Ellen with putting up with me and continuing to  be as enthused with this as I am.  It's fun to have friends who share your addictions.  <3

Happy birthday Debbie

I was at the dentist last week for my usual cleaning and my hygienist, Debbie, mentioned it had been her birthday the week prior.  She related that Dr. Peterson had given her a birthday card that made reference to the fact she was no longer in her 40s.  So I had to counter that with a card of my own.  I hope it gave her a chuckle.  Age is just a number after all, and we're only as old as we feel, right?

Did someone say BASEBALL?

Last year I was gifted a goodie bag of sports ephemera, stickers, scrapbook items from Sandy at one of our card making meetings.  I'm thinking it was last year at the OWH Birthday Bash.  Well, since it's spring and baseball season is underway...Go Mariners!...I thought I would get it out and go through it and see if inspiration struck.

Well, it seems to have!  Enjoy this batch of cards that will be going out to OWH this week with another bunch in my box that I've been collecting for the last couple of months.

The need for missing you cards never seems to end, so most of these are missing you.
